Aastha Chouhan on what it takes to make excellenece a virtue

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.” Aastha’s achievements are a reflection of this famous quote by the ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle. With stellar achievements in academics & extra co-curriculars, excellence has become Aastha’s virtue. Her academic honours include securing the perfect score of 10 in her CBSE-i board exams 2013, winning twice the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam for Academic Proficiency in 2012-13 & 2011-12, Subject Proficiency Award for all 6 subjects in 2012-13, and for 3 subjects in 2011-12.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle

Beyond academics, Aastha has been a true leader representing her alma mater GIIS’s East Coast campus as the head girl & deputy cultural caption in 2012-13, and the Queenstown campus as the vice head girl in 2013-14. A desire to excel in everything has always played a pivotal role in helping Aastha achieve new heights. Beyond academics, Aastha’s fondness for performing arts & her talent have led her to win many competitions at the college & at the national level. She has been the winner of Global Indian Star singing competition for 3 consecutive years and has also been the winner of Jhankar 2011 – a national level interschool dance competition. She has also won the 2nd prize in Duo Interpretation at International Debate Education Association, which serves as the qualifier for NLF National Tournament in USA

Aastha also believes in actively contributing back to the society – a virtue she inherited from her grandfather, a retired successful businessman, who has been offering honorary services for Animal Welfare in India for more than 10 years. Aastha has performed at different charity fundraisers, has participated in the 10km race against Cancer and in the 10km run of Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, which aims at assisting several community projects.
